Media-Based Training Sessions

As part of the project, a series of targeted training sessions are conducted to equip students with essential media skills aimed at promoting peace, tolerance, and pluralism within their communities. These sessions focus on three core areas: Digital Storytelling and Writing, Digital Editing and Production, and News Dissemination on Digital Platforms.

Digital Storytelling and Writing sessions have provided students with a foundation in creating impactful digital content. They learn the basics of journalism ethics, content management, and the art of storytelling. Through interactive, discussion-based sessions, participants are tasked with developing stories that highlight themes of peace and harmony. The practical exercises have led students to brainstorm and sketch storyboards that addressed issues like interfaith harmony and countering violent extremism.

In the Digital Editing and Production workshops, students are introduced to the technical aspects of digital media production. They have explored digital storytelling techniques, mobile filming, and editing principles. The hands-on approach has allowed students to create and refine their own videos, learning skills such as trimming interviews, adding voiceovers, and incorporating graphics. These sessions also emphasize ethical storytelling and provided safety tips for digital journalists.

The News Dissemination on Digital Platforms training is focused on responsible and effective use of social media. Students are taught to assess and curate news content, emphasizing the importance of fact-checking, intellectual property rights, and the ethical responsibilities of journalists. They also learn strategies to enhance the visibility and engagement of their content, while promoting positive narratives on platforms where they can reach a broad audience. These comprehensive training sessions not only develop students’ technical skills but also empower them to use media as a tool for positive social change. By the end of the program, students are well-prepared to contribute meaningful content that promotes peace and inclusivity in their university environments and communities.
