Between 2020 and 2024, GNMI organized 15 workshops and training sessions, reaching and sensitizing 250 journalists from diverse geographic regions of Pakistan. These sessions were designed to address the evolving challenges of the digital media landscape, focusing on authentic news gathering, digital news content creation, online reporting, and debunking misinformation, myths, and disinformation through fact-checking techniques and ethical journalism practices.
The training methodology combined participatory and cognitive approaches, integrating interactive exercises, case-based learning, and expert-led presentations to enhance knowledge retention and practical application.
GNMI engaged a distinguished panel of media trainers and experts, including Aoun Sahi (Pulitzer-winning investigative journalist), Masroor Gilani (fact-checking specialist, AFP), Tayyeb Afridi (Founder & CEO, Tribal News Network), Khalid Khattak (data journalist), Senior Journalists Husnain Jamal, Abdulah Jabbar Nasir, Afia Salam, and Ayaz Khan (AI expert and multimedia journalist). These experts trained and inspired mid-career journalists, encouraging them to serve as mentors for aspiring media professionals.
