GNMI has organized live webinars that unite journalists, subject-matter experts, and community activists to generate discourse on humanitarian assistance and the adverse impacts of climate change. These sessions aim to sensitize media professionals to the pressing need for enhanced reporting on the severity and repercussions of climate change and to inspire policy actions.
The first webinar, titled “Climate Journalism Matters,” has featured award-winning climate journalists and environmental experts, offering valuable insights into the critical role of media in addressing climate issues.
The second webinar, “Humanitarian Reporting in Flood-Ravaged Pakistan,” has focused on the challenges and opportunities in reporting on humanitarian efforts amidst the devastating floods. Seasoned journalists and anchorpersons have shared their expertise, providing a nuanced perspective on the complex landscape of humanitarian reporting in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
These sessions have deepened understanding among digital audiences, journalists, and civil society members, generating meaningful discourse on the intersection of journalism and climate advocacy. The digital audience has called for informed reporting in flood-ravaged areas, emphasized the necessity of reaching communities still stranded in floodwater, and demanded government action for relief activities.
