The Gender Equality Reporting project seeks to educate journalists and media professionals on the ethical and effective reporting of gender-based violence, utilizing contemporary digital storytelling tools and platforms. The training program encompasses best practices to avoid sensationalism, safeguard survivors’ identities and privacy, and eschew insensitive inquiries on topics such as forced marriages, sexual exploitation, workplace discrimination and harassment, femicide, domestic violence, rape, and child molestation. These trainings aim to enhance journalists’ understanding of the psychological, economic, and gender-based physical and sexual violence, enabling them to perform more in-depth analyses of the cases they report. By employing a variety of digital media tools, the project aspires to reform and challenge conventional and traditional reporting methodologies.
