An expert consultation to affirm findings from a
comprehensive study on ethical media reporting of Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
cases, survivor support services, and criminal justice processes in Punjab was
conducted. This consultation convened subject matter experts and stakeholders
to validate the study’s outcomes, delving into responsible media coverage,
inter-organizational coordination, family law components, and digital media
worker training. Emphasizing dignified reporting and robust survivor support,
the discussion led to recommendations for improved coordination, enhanced legal
provisions, and ethical reporting. This valuable platform facilitated knowledge
exchange, providing insights and guidance for effective GBV response in Punjab.
Recommendations encompassed law dissemination, budget allocation, SOPs for
police-prosecutor cooperation, and language use. Additional subjects covered
included domestic and home-based workers, central platforms for experts, and
cybercrime reporting and redress mechanisms.
